What in the what?! October, where did you go? π Oh wait, I forgot. Helene & Milton took us for a hurricane ride and dropped us off in November. What a doozy itβs been. And still, so much life has happened in this beautiful month where the weather was crazy but also delivered the first taste of Fall - I could not be more grateful.
Letβs recap the best of it with the monthly R.E.P.O.R.T. Letβs dive in & feel free to share yours in the comments too.
READING
Currently Iβm reading 10X is Easier Than 2X by Benjamin Hardy. I really love to listen to books vs reading a physical copy, and Benjamin Hardy books are sooo good to listen to. Iβm not often sitting long enough for the physical copy but I can read A LOT on walks and during my long commutes for work.
I go through phases of wanting to learn new things, filling up my personal development cup with books like 10X. And then Iβll need a break and will shift into fiction. Are you like this too? I feel like some good old fiction is going to be needed soon - what recommendations do you have? The last few I read were all Colleen Hoover: It Ends with Us, It Starts with Us and I think another one that Iβm not remembering the name of!
My 8 year olds are reading the newest Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hot Mess, Matilda and the first Harry Potter book. They also got Yoto players as part of our new homeschool routine and theyβre loving listening to all kinds of new things on there too. Itβs really the first time theyβve gotten into audiobooks! In case youβre wondering, weβve tried the Tonies Box and now the Yoto Playerβ¦.the Yoto wins HANDS DOWN. Itβs so much easier to use, the cards take up such little space, itβs easy to customize playlists, and I found the app for my phone a lot easier too.
EATING
Ooooh what a good one. Evan has been on a baking kick and especially a pumpkin baking kick. His pumpkin bread is literal perfectionβ¦toasted with some cream cheese. Iβll have to get his recipe and share it here.
As someone who typically despises doing the same thing every day, my food has basically looked like this:
Wake up, water, protein shake. The protein shake has become so automatic for me in the mornings. I donβt think I would remember to eat breakfast before 11am most days if it werenβt for this. Literal easy button for busy mom life.
Sometimes plain yogurt with a bit more protein powder mixed in and some granola on top. I add fruit to this if I remember.
Evan makes me lunch every day and Iβm so thankful because a lot of work days, I donβt have a ton of time to make anything. So Iβd otherwise be snacking and that doesnβt work well for my body. He typically makes me an egg + raw cheddar sandwich with some kind of fruit on the side.
Some time in the afternoon, typically 3-4pm, I drink a greens powder plus a b vitamin + clean caffeine βfizzβ powder mixed together. Itβs usually right when I start to feel foggy and like a nap would be pretty nice. The combo wakes me up and helps me stay positive and focused through the rest of the day - an absolute necessity for wrangling 6 kids through the dinner and bedtime routine.
Dinners lately have been super simple - grassfed beef sliders (no bread for me, I actually prefer them plain) or a little butter in a pan with frozen veggies and then chicken breast on top with some garlic, pepper, onion and salt cooked on low for an hour or so until cooked fully. Weβve also been doing chicken breast with salsa, beans, onions and peppers in the pressure cooker.
If I get to the end of the day and I feel like I didnβt get enough protein - I sometimes have a second protein shake. Or a Clio greek yogurt barβ¦soooo good.
PLAYING
Current playlist that Iβm enjoying - just basically songs that make me feel amazing and help me stay energized, up beat and focused.
OBSESSING
All things Human Design. Iβm honestly just in such learning mode around this. Even thinking about becoming a Human Design reader because I just resonate with it so so much. In October I attended a free 3-day masterclass with an incredible human I found on Instagram, and also setup a group virtual session for my team at work for November.
Also obsessing over reformer pilatesβ¦I never got into this before which is kind of shocking considering the amount of yoga and barre classes Iβve done over the years. Truly the reformer was so intimidating to me. Iβm so glad I leaned in though, because the way it is so low impact is absolutely what my body needs right now. Low impact, slow and controlled, core building. Full body yes. I signed up for 5 classes in my first weekβ¦thatβs how obsessed I am.
AND! We started homeschooling our 3 grade school kids on October 1st! Our youngest are still too young to start anything βformalβ but we are lovingggg the flexibility and time that homeschooling has already given us. Absolutely obsessed with this long time vision for our family finally coming to fruition.
RECOMMENDING
Go get the My Human Design app and add yourself and all of your family members. It is unbelievably helpful to get a different perspective on yourself - your true self and how you can be more of it. Then understanding the people you love in your life? Huge perspective shifts. So much more empathy and understanding for the humans in my home. It just makes everything make more sense and I canβt recommend it enough!!
If you want a real human to do a reading of your chart and walk you through it, I have two recommendations. Go follow their Instagram pages!
& finally, a shameless plug for the paid portion of this Substack. Iβm truly so grateful that so many of you have decided to support me and this whole internet content gig with your $6 a month. I know itβs less than a latte, but thatβs an intentional choice and it means so much to me. While I may be biased, the little community weβre creating is SO fun and the feedback on the paid subscriber exclusive podcast has been so wonderful so far. Iβm just stoked to have this private space to connect on a deeper level and have so many fun ideas for the podcast, exclusive guides, etc! Iβd love to have you over there.
Just $6 monthly gets you:
+ podcast episodes
+ access to the archive (all posts are archived after 3 weeks)
+ access to our fun community chat & exclusive guides + workbooks
subscribe or upgrade here :)
TREATING
Simple list: early mornings when it feels good, sleeping in when it feels good too. Pilates classes on repeat. Pumpkin lattes from the local spots. Winter holiday lip oil that is like a cookie. Body oil thatβs an absolute stunner.
Thank you so much for joining me for this bit of a run down of all of my current best things. I hope October was truly kind to you and that November is even better ππ
Would love to hear your R.E.P.O.R.T. in the comments!
